After cramming up for their biology finals, the group is relieved to learn that it has been cancelled. With time in their hands, they then head off to do their own thing. Annie persuades Troy and Britta to go out on a date so she can accompany Abed in the Dreamatorium.
Inside the Dreamatorium, Abed and Annie start to play Inspector Spacetime and since Troy, who usually plays the sidekick is off on a date, Annie fills in for him. Abed gets angry after Annie messes up her performance as the Inspectors assistant. But Annie is pretty sure that Abeds anger has something to do more with Troy and Britta going out on a date. Abed confirms Annies speculations by pointing out that it is wrong for her to jumble the natural fabric or chemistry of the group because the Dreamatorium has shown him every scenario and possible outcome and he sees nothing but negative results. Abed also explains that the Dreamatorium uses his thoughts, which in turn are processed by logic to come up with objective and logical observations on different situations. This is where Annies crazy idea messes everything up add their friends thoughts in the Dreamatorium machine.
Annie does exactly what she suggested and Abed kicks off the back and forth portrayals of their friends by becoming Jeff. The Dreamatorium suddenly transforms into a simulated scenario in a hospital and Annie tries to find the real Abed inside. But the scenario changes into a simulated date of Troy and Britta. Annie tortures the truth out of Troy with a truth serum until Troy coughs it off. Annie then discovers that the real Abed is in the hospital, but as a patient.
Annie goes off to the real Abed but the Jeff in Abed initiates the scenario to change into the time of theirfirst kiss. Jeff then reads of a file from Abed stating that Annie thinks Abed is a control freak and he can manipulate people to bend over to his needs. Annie denies everything and tells Jeff to stop. The whole effect of the scenario made Annie desperate for solitude.
Abed then changes into Annie. During an Annie Annie conversation, the real Annie reveals that shes been creating scenarios for Jeff to love her. Now the simulation changes again and Annie transforms into Abed. In this Abed-Abed scenario, Abed gets arrested and is thrown into jail with the real Abed which resembles Abeds locker in Junior High.
Inside the metaphorical locker, Annie tells Abed that all the scenarios he run are mere representations of his anxieties, which he apparently share with everyone else. The Dreamatorium presents possibilities, not hard truth. What they need to do is to stop controlling everything. They ended their Dreamatorium scenario by fighting off a Blorgon.
After three hours, the group reconvenes and they reveal that they all had a good time.
