subject: Uscis 693 Medical Exam Required For Immigration Status Change And United States Citizenship [print this page]

The USCIS 693 Medical Exam is a basic medical exam and some blood testing for person who are applying for a change of immigration status or citizenship status.

David J. Ores, MD has been an official civil surgeon and provider of the USCIS 693 medical exam in New York City for over 15 years and he has also developed information, resources and forms to make the process as low cost as possible. And as efficient as possible. The 693 exam involves a blood test, a skin test for exposure to Tuberulosis, some medical history questions and a brief physical exam.

It is best to contact our office four or six weeks before you need to deliver the completed exam paperwork to your lawyer or the USCIS service. We can be reached by TEXT message (917 723 4206) or through our website (www.LowerEastSideMedical.com)

After you set up your appointment to come to our office, please bring your passport with you and any records of vaccinations you may have. Some clients do not have a passport and they can use some alternate form of official photo identification. Many clients do not have any records of the vaccines they have received in the past and that is not a problem. We are going to test you for immunity to certain contagious illnesses on your first visit.

The first step is to contact our office and make an appointment. Keep in mind you will need to return to our office either 2 days or 3 days after your first appointment so we can read the result of your PPD skin test or TST (Tuberculosis Skin Test).

On your first visit, we place a skin test on your arm and draw a blood sample. We also perform the required USCIS physical exam. You also fill out some forms and answer some questions about your health and medical history.

For the PPD skin test, we inject a very tiny amount of PPD solution into the surface skin of your right arm. It is a very tiny amount and it is injected into the surface of your skin. This usually makes a very tiny bubble or raised skin area for a few minutes which is to be expected and normal.

At your second visit (which is either two or three days after your first visit), we will go over the results of your skin test and your blood tests and we will be able to ascertain what steps to take next. If your skin test is positive, for example, you will need to have a regular Chest X-ray performed. We will also know at that point if you need any additional vaccinations and which ones they are. If you do need these items, we can usually arrange them for you at no charge.

If you have an attorney assisting you with your immigration applications and papers, ask him or her when it is time in your process to obtain your USCIS 693 medical exam. It is best to have about six weeks notice before it is due to hand in.

If you are doing your own paperwork, without any professional legal help, it is still a good idea to get your 693 medical started about 4 to 6 weeks before you need to send it in to the immigration service or bring it to your USCIS interview.

Once those few items are done, we can complete your USCIS 693 form and it is ready for you to sign. Then the paperwork is placed in a sealed envelope for you to give to your attorney or the USCIS administration.

We look forward to hearing from you and we are happy to answer any questions you may have.
