Ashley Cooper the first ever sporting contest was organized in 1930 at Canada by a key Canadian Athlete, Bobby Robinson to bring together the members of the British Empire. 400 athletes from 11 countries participated in the first games. With the exception of the war years 1942 and 1946, these games have been held regularly 18 times at four yearly intervals. Since 1978 the game is called the Commonwealth Games.
