subject: The Technique Is Different Thought The Nozzle Is The Same [print this page]

If we are to talk about waterjet cutting service, we must then actually know how water jets actually work. The users take ordinary tap water and pressurize it at minimum 4000 bar and force it through a very small nuzzles. When the water is again mixed with garnet abrasive then we get a very thin steam of water traveling very fast that rapidly erodes most materials. Some waterjet cutting services are pure water jets and dont add the garnet abrasive. These are again used to cut softer materials such as food, rubber, and foam. Waterjet cutting service can cut just any material that can be made into a sheet and placed in front of any other objects.

The most popular materials are the metals. The water jet metal cutting is meant for the metals like copper, bronze, and aluminum, but it is best applied upon aluminum because it is soft and cuts quickly. The water jet metal cutting is most suitable device for cutting intricate shapes, to a high precision quickly and economically. Since metals are the most common materials cut by the machine shops, water jets tend to cut a lot of metals.

Water jet cutting service is also found on stones and glass, because in this case too, we can get intricate shapes which are not possible with any traditional machine method. These water jets are not only found amongst the carpenters but also popular amongst the artists who like working with hard materials, not necessarily always with metals. The nuzzle of a water jet machine is so small that it lets the creator create almost anything they can envision. Among very few materials that water jets cannot cut are diamonds and tempered glass.

Diamonds are too hard to cut, and there are other few hard gems and materials (like advanced ceramics) that can not be cut too. Tempered glass will shatter when it is cut with a waterjet, since the glass itself is designed to shatter when it is disturbed and is frequently used in windshields for this very reason.

Custom water jet cutting is normally used on slats, no matter how hard the metal or the material is. This mechanism is suitable for advanced ceramics, and is economical to cut them too. Some composite materials, meaning layers of different materials sandwiched together, can not be cut because the water can seep between the layers and delaminate the material. Many compost materials cut just fine with Custom water jet cutting, because if we have to explain technically there are some techniques that are to be followed while cutting laminated materials.

Custom water jet cutting also come in complete system, just like that of any typical water jets, including the high pressure water pump, a system to precisely position the waterjet nozzle, a tank to catch the waste water, and an abrasive feed system. Prices run considerably high for the custom system or even for very large water jets cutting system. However waterjet systems are not something for home workshop. They are only and strictly meant for industrial workshop.
