Scarves can be defined as extraordinary piece of cloth for being functional and fashionable as well. In everyday life we these single but vibrant piece of cloth. They indicate the ones taste in fashion and tell about how far one can go for appearing stylish. In my other articles I have written many times about how one would appear trendier by utilizing these outfits now let us discuss about its usage. They are great functional accessory for both the genders, especially male prefer to wear mens scarves only in extreme weather conditions of summers and winters. These alluring piece of clothes are also come in use for many traditional and cultural purposes.

Use of Scarves

In Christianism Scarves has religious significance for Christians, in medieval times due to political and religious views every women need to cover in proper dress code of medieval clothing and headscarves. They used to cover hair with small piece of cloth called wimple, it was worn around neck and chin and tied under the chin. Wimple could be starched, creased and folded. Married women were not allowed to show their hair. In modern world also nuns who follow traditional rules wear wimples. Now-a-days some people cover head only in worship places like church a few hardcore religious people believe in covering head all the time.

In Hinduism- The use of scarf in Hindu religion is diverse. From marriage to every other cultural celebration people need to use scarf to cover head or just to take it as dupatta, a necessary combination with main apparel. However it is not mandatory or written anywhere but parents teaches their child to cover the head while praying or performing some rituals. In marriage grooms scarf is tied to brides apparel while circling holy fire. People of lower status and younger person keep scarf over head to show their respect for elders and person of higher ranking.

Now people look at Hindu prayer scarves and shawls as hot fashion accessory, many manufacturers are printing the religious images of lords and Vedic mantras due to the growing demand in national land international fashion market. Hinduism is the only religion which never forced believer to use these clothes but still practice it.

In Islam Headscarves are commonly in use among Muslim women. Use of Hijab (Arabic name for scarf) is considered as important factor in judging womens morals, character and her ideals. For them wearing Hijab is necessary for modest way of dressing, it is considered as the guard for modesty and help them in making religious identity and social behavior. Islamic people believe head cover signifies purity and godliness so god wants women to cover their head. Another believes related to use of Hijab is opening of opening of religious and unconscious state of mind.

Many muslin ladies cover themselves from head to toes, even they curtained their face with another kind of womens scarf called veil. These women wear scarves on public places, mosques and community spaces.
