The musical duo has composed chartbuster music for Salman in movies like Wanted, Partner, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi etc. They can definitely be called Salmans lucky charm and hot favorite. And we cannot comment or annotate anything about Gulzar. This multitalented human being has it all. The ultimate maestro when it comes to writing lyrics or dialogues. With Veer, he has earned yet another feather in his cap.
Veer contains eight timeless tracks composed by Sajid-Wajid and two of the tracks are dissimilar renditions of the same song.
"Taali" is a classical Indian song with elevated vigor and gusto. The song is crooned by great Sukhwinder Singh who apparently sings a solo track of the song as well. This one also has voices of Sonu Nigam and newbie Neumon Pinto.
The next track "Surili Akhiyon Wale is one of the most soothing tracks from the movie. It is a romantic charming number crooned by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. The song has two versions to it. One is a duet with Sunidhi Chauhan and the other is with Suzanne, wherein English vocals are added to the song. Both the versions are assuasive in their own way.
"Salaam Aaya" is sung marvelously by none other than Roop Kumar Rathod and Shreya Ghoshal. The song is easy on ear and Gulzars lyrics make this one, one of a kind.
The next song is a traditional dance number sung by Sonu Nigam called "Meherbaniyan. Sonu Nigams sweet and mellow voice makes this song different from all the songs in the movie.
"Kanha" is a soft composition sung by Rekha Bhardwaj. Shabab Sabri did assist her in the song giving a backup voice.
The soundtrack ends with the theme of the film called "Spirit of Veer. This forms the essence of the movie as the theme is a masterpiece coming out from Sajid-Wajid.
Veer dictates the story of extreme valor, stern pride and heartrending love. The British at that time had incarcerated India with their deceitful Divide and Rule policy, kings and nawabs fell to their guile and cunning, and entrusted their prized kingdom to the foreigners. But the brave Pindaris, who preferred death to dishonor and would battle to their last breathe to save their land. The bravest, the toughest, the strongest of the Pindaris is Veer. As Veer takes on the might of the British Empire, he also has to fight the conniving King of Madavgarh as well his own jealous tribesmen. But then the stakes are high. At stake is his love for princess Yashodhara, daughter of his sworn enemy and his thirst to avenge his father's dishonor.
Overall Veer is a period film with timeless music of the ancient Indian era. Sajid-Wajid has really done a commendable task. A fortune has been spent on the music of Veer and its all worth it when you hear it.
