subject: Men vs Women- the car shopping showdown! [print this page]

It's an on-going battle of the sexes every single day and from London to Beijing- can men run faster than women? Can women beat men at the pie-eating contest? Who can drive their car better than the other? And in each game it is always the women who appear to come out a little bruised.

Stereotypically women enjoy shopping, while the men play sports and no matter how dated this statement may be now, there is still that underlying question. Who does in fact spend the most money?

Too much money is seen as materialistic, too little is seen as tight as opposed to thrifty so neither side can win in any battle. Well no, that's not true, and only until recently can we actually say that yes, males are in actual fact the biggest spenders when it comes to buying a car.

It has been confirmed that automotive buying choices by males have left a hole of around fourteen thousand pounds in their pockets, and you have to agree that is a big wedge to be spending on a new Suzuki vitara, London or not. It will probably move at the speed of a ford c-max and will have similar engineering to that of a used ford kuga, London being the hunting ground for premium shopping is it a surprise that men spend more.

In fact, it has been reported by Findyoucars.com that men would spend a further five thousand pounds on a car than women would. The survey was carried out recently and has seemingly put the material men vs women gauntlet to rest.

The research looked into the buying habits of both sexes and found that on average males will in fact spend around fourteen thousand pounds on a new car whilst women however, will spend anything up to nine thousand pounds on a car which is only two thirds of that spent by the big-spender males.

Also retrieved from the survey is the fact that men are without a doubt the fussiest, a whole 67% of men surveyed were found to be very picky about their vehicular choices and that is more than double the number of women. Men from London in particular seem to be the fussiest of the bunch and with males in the Midlands coming in at a close second.

The survey also calculated that men opted for premium brand names and bigger engines over their female opposition which is a surprise because females in fact rate functionality, practicality and body colours as top requirements.

BMW was rated as the most desirable brand amongst the male species and females more often than not chose Volkswagen as their premium choice.

All in all, I think from this we can safely say the battle has been won and in favour of the female competition. Well done to the girls!
