subject: Car Tire Problems [print this page]

Car tires are more than just the things that go round and round on a car. These tires carry the entire weight of the car and all of the passengers in it. Aside from these, they also balance out the weight so that everything runs smoothly. If the tires dont work well, there is a chance that it may affect the performance of the car. Here are some indications that there is something wrong with the car tires that should be given immediate attention.

The treads are worn out.

It is normal for the tire treads to get worn out in the course of using the car. However, it can also get to a point when the treads are too worn out for the car tires to run as well as they should. When it reaches this point, the tires have to be replaced immediately. Otherwise, there is a risk of the car slipping because of the lack of traction between the tires and the road.

The car drags off into one direction when running.

When the car does not run smoothly and drags off to the side, this means that the tires are misaligned. Misaligned tires have other negative effects, including more pressure on the car engine. If the driver sees that his car is experiencing this problem, he should have it realigned immediately, to prevent further problems such as the car tires wearing off easily. Well-aligned wheels ensure that the car is balanced on the road.

Some tires are more worn out than others.

Worn out car tires are to be expected, especially if the car is used regularly. It is also to be expected that the four tires have different wear patterns. However, these tires have to be more or less balanced for the car to run as smoothly as possible. To do this, many car owners rotate their car tires to a different position. Due to varying conditions, it may be hard to tell the proper time to rotate the wheels, but this should be done approximately every six months. The tires should change position regularly from the front to the back and vice versa.

The tires are dragging onto the road.

Dragging car tires are a sure sign that there is too little air inside them. The air pressure is too low, so the tires are not able to provide enough support to the car. As a result, the tires sustain more wear, and the engine has to work harder to function. This may end up with the engine being overworked.

The tires burst when the car is running at a very high speed.

If too little air pressure in car tires can have negative effects on the car, the same also goes for the opposite. Too much air pressure may lead to the car tires bursting when the car is running fast. This is an extreme effect, and this is very dangerous as well. The air pressure in the car tires have to be monitored regularly, to ensure that it is just right.
