subject: Which is the Best MPV Available Today? [print this page]

It is not necessarily due to bigger families but more a desire for spacious driving that have seen the rise in popularity of the MPV as the new family car. This has continued unabated over recent years and so from the current range, which of the people carries get voted the best of breed.

At present the French and particularly Peugeot seems to have got this one exactly right and have made a real impact on the segment of the car market. The 3008 won the "What Car," Car of the Year award, with the 5008 coming out as the top MPV.

The 5008 is based on the Citroen Grand C4 Picasso and it has the same wonderful rear seat design that is easy to use and also provides great storage space in the back. Comfort too is the 5008's bonus; it is an excellently refined car and provides passengers with a smooth ride due to its good road holding and assured steering.

Peugeot have given customers a lot for their money and along with its reasonable running costs the 5008 proves to be a spacious, comfortable and reliable vehicle capable of running the family around town or travelling across country for a holiday.

While heavily criticised in some design and engineering quarters, the French seem to have made the MPV segment their own. Other choice selections here include the Citroen C3 and the C4 Grand Picasso, both are splendidly manoeuvrable cars, safe, spacious and adaptable. The Renault Scenic is a well-priced, roomy MPV too, that offers customers a great variety of equipment inside the cabin. The Ford S-Max breaks the Gaelic mould with its surprisingly responsive, nippy big car with large van capabilities should you need the extra space.
