subject: A Review Of The Tamerica Officepro-34e Twin-loop Wire Binding Machine [print this page] There are many twin-loop wire binding machines available and one of the newest is the OfficePro-34E from Tamerica. This device is one of the several the company has released this spring and we recently had a chance to try it out. Keep reading to find out what we think are its strengths and weaknesses.
Strengths:
* The OfficePro-34E has an excellent punching capacity. This device can punch up to 20 sheets at a time so you'll be able to get your document ready for binding within minutes. The punch is electric so it's comfortable to use for extended periods of time.
* This machine is perfect for binding letter-sized documents that measure 8.5" x 11". It's also compatible with A4 paper so you have some flexibility when selecting what size of paper to use. There are disengageable dies so you don't need to worry about the pages having too many - or too few - holes.
* The OfficePro-34E has an adjustable depth of punch feature. It will allow you to punch holes 2.5 to 6.5 millimeters away from the edge of the paper. This feature ensures that all of your documents will be bound securely.
* If you want a durable wire binding machine, the OfficePro-34E is a great choice. It has a number of metal parts so you can get a lot of use out of it over time. Also, the device isn't terribly large thanks to its approximate dimensions of 18" x 11" x 19".
* The OfficePro-34E has a terrific warranty that lasts for one year.
Weakness:
* This machine's main weakness is that it's only compatible with wire spines up to 1/2" thick. (The spines need to be of the 3:1 pitch variety.) That means your documents must contain no more than 100 pages. This will be problematic if your documents tend to be pretty long.
* While the OfficePro-34E has an electric punch, the wire inserter is manual. Thus, a small amount of manual labor is involved when using this machine. Keep that in mind if you're going to be binding a lot of documents in one period of time.
Overall, we were pretty impressed with the Tamerica OfficePro-34E. It's a well-built twin-loop wire binding machine with some great features. We especially liked the electric punch (and its punching capacity) and the fact that you can control where exactly the holes are punched. The design is eye-catching and the small size makes this a good choice for smaller (or cramped) workspaces. The warranty is good and will undoubtedly provide you with the coverage you need. However, we were disappointed that this device can't use thicker wire spines. It would be nice if it could work with all of the sizes available, but if you're only going to be binding thinner books, it won't be an issue. If the Office Pro-34E sounds like it will meet your document finishing needs, be sure to get it for your office or school today. You're bound to love it.
