subject: Different Types Of Laminating Machines To Suit Your Needs [print this page]

There are many uses for laminating machinesThere are many uses for laminating machines. These gadgets can be utilized to cover identification cards, menu cards for a diner, or to protect large pieces of paper used as notices or signs in a business. Laminating documents and paper will let them last longer. Once it is protected by this method, your document becomes resistant to water and dirt.

There are different types of laminators. Some are small and good for home use while others are large machines made for commercial use. Each type of machine is used similarly with just a few differences. Before getting your own laminator, make sure you know the difference of each kind of machine to be able to get a suitable one for your needs.

There are large laminating appliances that are used to cover large documents or several small ones at a single time. Large hot laminating machines use heat and film resins to cover items. To use this machine, the operator needs to heat up the top roller first that holds a resin laminating sheet. Paper is placed on the bottom laminate sheet. The machine seals the document when the rollers press the 2 sheets together, sealing the document in between them.

A pouch laminator also uses heat to laminate paper. The difference between this type of laminator and a large hot laminating device is that the laminate sheets are not attached to the machine. A small document is placed inside the resin pouch. The laminator is pre-heated before the pouch with the document inside is placed in the machine. The pouch passes through heated rollers sealing the document inside.

Another type is a cold laminator that does not use heat to laminate paper. This type of machine is used for sensitive materials that will not withstand heat. To avoid damaging important documents that are sensitive to high temperatures, these kinds of laminating machines are used to seal them safely. Papers that contain ink jet print or carbon copies need this kind of lamination. High pressure is used to make laminate sheets stick together instead of heat.

Dry laminators apply a substrate like foam or wood to sealed documents. Heat and pressure are also applied to seal tissue adhesive. Tissue adhesive is placed between the wood or foam substrate and the document to be laminated. Pressure and heat are applied to seal the item.

Another type of machine is the tape laminator that seals documents between plastic sheets. A roll of tape is inserted into the machine to seal 2 sheets of plastic to seal a document. The plastic sheets with the document in the middles are inserted into the laminator for sealing. These kinds of laminators dont need electricity to work and are often used at sign shops.

If you intend to open a laminating business or need to get a laminator for the office, consider your needs and the type of materials you will be laminating the most. If you plan to laminate a lot of sensitive documents that are sensitive to heat, consider getting cold laminating machines instead of the ones that use heat.
