subject: A Lawn Mower Jack Gets You All Jacked Up [print this page]

Having a riding lawn mower sometimes feels like having a little car. It certainly is a vehicle, but it's so much more than that. It makes mowing your lawn so much easier than using a traditional lawn mower. If you have a big lawn, it's a godsend. But performing maintenance on a riding lawn mower also requires more equipment than a regular mower. You not only have to take care of the mowing components, but the vehicle components as well. And all of these moving parts are located on the underside of the mower, so you're going to need to be able to access the bottom of it. That's what a lawn mower jack is for.

If you have a car, you may be able to take a quick peek underneath your vehicle in a pinch, as long as you don't mind getting dirty. But the same doesn't hold true for riding lawn mowers. In order for them to be able to do the job they're supposed to do, they have to be pretty low to the ground, which means it's pretty much impossible to have a look at their undercarriage unless you jack them up. A lawn mower jack allows you to lift one end of the mower so that you can take a look underneath safely and easily.

You may need to look under your mower for a variety of reasons. Maybe you have belts that need replacing. Maybe your mower blades need to be sharpened. Maybe there's debris lodged underneath your mower that needs to be removed in order for it to function properly. In any case, you need to first use a lawn mower jack to lift your mower before you can do any of these things, or even ascertain what the problem is with your mower.

There are lots of different jacks available, ranging from very basic to professional grade. Most people don't need to shell out the big bucks for the professional jack; the basic one will do. And the basic ones are all pretty affordable. This is a tool that you will absolutely need if you have a riding lawn mower. Don't wait until something happens to your mower before deciding to get a lawn mower jack. You know you're going to need one anyway, so you might as well get one now.
