These are unsettling timesThese are unsettling times. One only needs to watch the news to hear of disasters, uncertainty and lack of peace. We don't know what the future holds, but we can be calm, prepared and have peace of mind. I would like to show Four Solutions for Emergency Water Storage you can implement into your emergency management plan. A plan that will be created by you that will provide for your family and bring you peace of mind. Let's begin with your family's most basic need: water.

A critical first step in your emergency plan is to store pure, safe water. Most people need to drink at least two quarts (half gallon) of water per day. Those residing in hot environments, children, mothers who are nursing and people with illness need even more. Individuals and families also need water for personal hygiene and food preparation. At least 1 gallon per person, per day is the recommended amount.

There are steps to prepare your own containers of water. This article gives solutions for commercially packaged water because I feel it is the safest and most reliable. Following each solution, there are three factors for you to consider when you decide which choice is best for you. These factors are: cost, storage space needed and shelf life.

These are the Four Solutions for Emergency Water Storage:

11st: bottled water purchased from your local Super Market or grocery store. I found cases of bottled water on sale about every-other month at my local store. I was able to purchase cases for $3.33, with coupons. That comes to $1.02 per gallon. Every person will need @ four bottles per day. This is very affordable but it has two drawbacks; they have a 1-2 year shelf life and they require more storage space, since it is recommended to leave the plastic wrap on the cases.

2The 2nd solution is 8.5oz Boxed Water. These come in cases of 27 boxes. I can get these for $5.92 per gallon. Every person will need about 7.5 boxes per day. This solution requires the least amount of space because each 8.5 Box can be stored separately. Boxes of water have a 1-5 year shelf life.

34.227oz Water Pouches are the 3rd solution. These come in 64 pouch cases. I can get these online, for $7.68 per gallon. Each person will need around 15 per day. Water pouches are easy to store in small spaces and handy. They, too, have a 1-5 year shelf life.

4Our final solution is Canned Drinking Water. They come in cases of 24 cans. I can purchase them, from my supplier, for $7.68 per gallon. Every person will need 1 and 2/3 can every day. These cans can be stored in many places. These cans have a 30 year storage life!

Now, use this information to build your emergency water storage plan for your family. Start by storing at least a two-week supply for all family members. Store as much as you can. Always remember; if supplies start thinning, dont ration water. Drink what you must to keep your body healthy today.

If a winter storm, hurricane, earthquake, or other disaster strikes, you may not have access to clean, pure water and electricity for days or even weeks. Use your time now to store emergency water supplies and you will be able to provide for your entire family.
