When going about your every day life it is hard to pass a playing field that does not have a set of goal posts on them. Football is everywhere. Kicking ball games have been played throughout history, but football as we know it today is very much originated in the English public school system. It was here that football developed into the team sport and it was tutors and pupils of these schools that would formalize and standardize the rules of the game as we now know it, resulting in the formation of the Football Association in 1863.

The overall concept of the game of football does not work unless you work as a team. Playing football is a way to make friends and being involved in a team of this kind helps raise self-esteem. In addition to this athletes are often more careful about taking care of themselves and avoiding habits that can affect their game. Self-confidence and pride are other positive results of football. Football players develop a team attitude and become protective of each other. They care about the other team members and look out for them in other areas of life besides football.

Teenagers love when they are given new possibilities to play and compete. Football matches are wonderful in boosting the self-esteem of your teenagers, along in giving them self-assurance. Sometimes, when they aren't able to compete in real competitions but just friendly games, they lack assurance and end up not believing in themselves. So football clubs have some really fantastic opportunities to boost the self-confidence of your younger and older teens, as well as giving them a channel to aim their interests and energy at.

When you support a football team, you join a club and it gives you a sense of belonging that some children lack during their school years.
