subject: Your Abandoned Website Can Be Worth Thousands Of Dollars If You Start Working On It Now [print this page]

So at one time you had a web site that you felt passionate about. You were very enthusiastic about what the future held, and you started by pouring your heart into the content and design only to watch other inferior web sites do better than you in the search rankings. You were unsure of just what it was you were doing wrong, and as your frustration continued to build, so, too, did the urge to get rid of the site altogether and focus instead on the factors of your business that you could control. Well, you may not realize this, but your abandoned web site can be worth thousands of dollars if you start working on it again right now. Why should you do so? After all, it failed once. What is out of the ordinary about the here and now?

1. Google values quality content over algorithm content more than they used to.

This is a big development for the passionate web site owner. That content that you wrote before, which you just knew was great but didn't perform great? Today, it will go a lot further than the pointless, meaningless drivel that used to beat you out in the search rankings. Google, in 2011, decided to start searching at more than just keyword phrases. They changed their algorithms to include voter input from site traffics as well as a formula that measures how long an individual spends on each web page, and how a large number internal links they visit while at your site. Obviously, the longer that a traffic spends at your site and the more pages they visit, the better off you are. If you're producing your very best content, then you're in a much better position to move up the ranks. That means you can give less time on the things you dont understand - SEO - and a lot more time on the things you do - your actual business.

2. Somewhat established web sites are better than starting from scratch.

For a large number Internet marketers, it takes too much time to build a site from the ground up. They are searching for something that a individual or company has spent time on. Something that gives them a starting point. If your abandoned web site is populated with content and user names, then you can dust it off and make it a valuable commodity to the internet marketer searching to turn a quick Internet profit.

3. You deserve some reward.

You've spent the time and the energy building something. Dont allow it to sit and collect dust. Use the changes in the search engine ranking system to renew your commitment to the site, even if it is just to get a sale out of it, and you'll feel much better about your decision.
