subject: Property Listings Mobile Application Development [print this page] Our efforts have always been to understand the current trends of mobile application development and customer demands and to develop web properties that are engaging and serve a unique audience. In this article we will discuss a property searching application developed for mobile platforms. We will try to assume the basic requirements and will discuss how a working application can be done.
Suppose, the requirements were to develop a mobile app capable of searching properties in "Calgary" and "Edmonton. Furthermore, the application needs to facilitate the users to look for properties selecting a region on map.
With these general guidelines, a mobile application development company needs to develop an app. So, to make the requirement a little more workable, the developers may add a lot more in the list. Like, the app needs to be a sophisticated app based on number of baths, beds and price etc. Additional features should enable users to add properties in their favorites' list and letting them evaluate afterward.
Apart from the given requirements, the app needs to add the following requirements as well:
Address
Nearby locations
Other properties
As a unique application was required, the addition of special search abilities with distinct search categories resembling "smoking allowed or not", 'pets allowed or not' were also desirable. Additionally, the client wanted the functionality to enable the app users to view the property address on map and find the directions to reach there.
Development Attempts
The functionalities developed following the clients requirements were:
Searching properties
Selecting a region on map
Refining searches with unique parameters
In addition to these, some extra functionality like integrating Facebook/Twitter in the application were also implemented. This enabled the users to share the searched properties on social networking sites. All the designs were implemented on the basis of the sample shared by client.
These properties were obtained from the running site "rentfaster.ca" and the same were used in the applications. Now as per the requirement, users can look for the properties by drawing the region on map or moving the map to a particular location of which they want to see the properties.
