The attraction towards smoking and alcohol is natural but peer pressure is one big factor leading to such devastating results. In spite of their parents continuous warnings and explanation they go in the wrong direction and fall directly into the pit. Parents should try to understand the pressure on their teenagers minds which makes them an easy prey. In many cases smoking and drinking are forms of rebellion from a teenagers side to defy orders. This crucial stage of development has to be handled with utmost care and every situation should be analyzed before taking another step.
Restrictions and limits should be set for them in order to keep a firm control on their actions and activities. Parents should educate them by explain the aftermaths of their actions which can prevent them from receiving damaging results in later life. Smoking and drinking not only damage their present but future also gets ruined in it. While smoking destroys the lungs and slows down the blood circulation alcohol on the other hand damages the liver and makes the blood impure. Parents should cite all appropriate reasons before thrashing them when they dont come under control.
They should set up a good example by first quitting both at their respective homes in order for their teenagers to follow them. They may feel that youngsters dont listen to whatever they tell them but it makes a huge impact on their action which parents cannot realize. They should also show trust towards them in order to build a mutually understanding relationship for the future. With all corrective measures in place teens are bound to return to their normal self.
