subject: Camping At Rocky Point [print this page]

A location by the Sea of Cortez, with mountains and the Sonora Desert, means abundant natural resources and exquisite natural beauty. But what most tourists do not know is that Rocky Point/Puerto Penasco is much more than just a "beach destination". Whether you are a hiker, extreme sports lover, diver, ATV rider or just want to sit on the beach with your book, Puerto Penasco has everything you can ever imagine. Just rent a condo or a villa right by the beach at Laguna Shores Resort for your friends and family, and have a great home away from home experience. Visit us at LAGUNASHORESRESORT.COM for more details.

One of the most amazing things to do in this area is camping The ocean, the hills and the desert provide some truly fantastic campsites for tourists.

The most popular campsites are usually on the beach front. One of the oldest beach campsites in the area is the Playa Bonita. The site has many tents, trailers and accommodation facilities. There is also a restaurant and a grocery store available. Another great campsite is The Reef campsite. It is located on Sandy Beach and has among of the best views of the Sea of Cortez. If you are a seafood enthusiast, you should check out the restaurant of the same name.

The Playa De Oro campsite is unique because they accept only cash, no credit cards! So make sure to keep this fact in mind. But other than this minor problem, it is a lovely campground on Matamoros Avenue. It is a highly modern campsite with boat ramps, amenities and WiFi.

All these campsites have basic amenities like showers, laundry, television, security etc. The best thing is they are open 365 days a year. However, all of these campsites are packed with tourists, especially during peak season, so, please check availability and rates before you make reservations.

There are few other campsites which are not actually on the beach, but are just a little ways away from the shore. Bonita, San Rafael and Whale Hill camp grounds are a few examples of these facilities. Most of these camping sites are near the town, but only a short walk from the ocean. This means you can enjoy all water activities and at the same time, not be too close to the beach crowd at night. All of these campgrounds have amenities like showers, restaurants, TVs, laundry, security etc.
