Audi, the German manufacturer is developing A3 family car since 1996 in 3 door and 5 door hatchback modes. This small family car is well reputed for its reliability, economic performance and Euro safety rating. From the very beginning A3 was launched with option of choosing either petrol or diesel engine. Petrol engines are available in different displacements from 1.2 litre to 3.2 litre, whereas diesel engines are available in 1.9 and 2.0 litre configuration.
Audi A3 Diesel engine was initially developed as a 1900cc/ 1.9 litre engine, up till 2003, thats when Audi launched 2000cc/ 2.0 litre version as well. 1.9 and 2.0 litre engines came in different trims, however all remained turbo charged. 1.9 litre units included following variants.
AGR Engine
It remained in production from 1996 to 2003 and was capable of producing 90 HP with 4000RPM.
AHF Engine
Produced during the years 1998 till 2003, it was more powerful than AGR engines and produced 110 HP with 4150 RPM.
ALH Engine
These were produced during same years as AHF engines but were less powerful compared to them. They produced 90 HP with 4000 RPM, similar power as that of AGR engines.
ASV Engine
Built from 2000 till 2003 and produced 110 HP with 4150 RPM.
ASZ Engine
These were also manufactured for only 3 years, from 2001 to 2003, but they were the most powerful additions in 1.9 litre Diesel engine category. They produced 131 HP with 4000 RPM.
ATD Engine
ATD engines were produced from 2001 to 2003 and yielded 100 HP with 4000 RPM.
AXR Engine
It was manufactured only in 2002 and 2003, and produced 100 HP at 4000 RPM.
BKC Engine
BKC engines were produced from 2003 up till 2007. These were 105 HP engines with 4000 RPM.
BLC Engine
Audi started producing these BLC engines in 2005 and continued production till 2007. These wee also 105 HP engines with 4000 RPM.
4 Variants Of 2.0 Litre Engines Were Produced By Audi:
AZV Engine
It was produced from 2004 till 2007 and dished out 136 HP with 4000 RPM.
BKD Engine
These were among the most powerful Audi A3 Diesel engines produced from 2003 to 2007. These engines dished out 140 HP with 4000 RPM.
BMM and BRA Engines
Both of these engines were developed from 2004 till 2007 and they both produced 140 HP with 4000 RPM.
