subject: The Htc One X And Lg Optimus 4x Hd - Flagship Handsets Reviewed [print this page]

At this years MWC event in Barcelona, the main attractions were the quad-core powered smartphones unveiled by a number of manufacturers. In this article I will look at some of these, so you can decide which one comes out on top.

HTC One X

HTCs new flagship smartphone the HTC One X is one of the most high tech smartphone out there. It ticks all the boxes and makes an ideal choice for the out and out tech enthusiast. HTCs most advanced touchscreen on a smartphone is in the form of a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED screen with a whopping resolution of 720x 1280 means HD movies, games and photos are displayed in super high quality. As a camera phone, this is also HTCs most advanced to date. Rather than upping the pixel resolution, it remains at 8 megapixels lie the previous HTC flagship the Sensation XE. The camera on the One X is capable of capturing 1080p video and even simultaneous photo and video capture. The Android Ice Cream Sandwich software is installed as standard, so users can enjoy all the benefits of the most advanced version of the software to date.

LG Optimus 4X HD

The LG Optimus 4X HD is LGs first attempt at a quad-core smartphone. It takes the place of the LG Optimus 2X which was their previous flagship phone, and the first smartphone in the world to sport a dual-core processor. The LG Optimus 4X HD brings the format bang up to date. As the name suggests, the handset has an HD screen which sports the same resolution and dimensions of the HTC One X. The screen, unlike that of the HTC device utilises HD-IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen technology. This produces equally impressive display quality and responsiveness, but does not quite match the battery efficiency of AMOLED panels. A similar 8 megapixel camera is included, and comes with a similar package of features as well as 1080p video.

Aside from what I have already covered in this article, there are several features which differ between the two phones. The most noticeable is the differences between the designs of the phones. The HTC One X looks very similar to the previous flagship the HTC Sensation XE, whereas the LG Optimus 4X HD has a very different aesthetic. Both handsets run the new Android OS, but the HTC One X has the newest version of the HTC Sense UI, which allows a high degree of customisation within the user interface, whereas the LG Optimus 4X HD runs the stock Android user interface. The processing power of each handset is equally matched; both phones pack super powerful 1.5 GHz quad-core processor

When comparing these two phones, we can see that many of their key features are equally matched on paper. Choosing between them is likely to come down to personal preference for either manufacturer, or the design of a particular handset. Because they were both unveiled a matter of weeks ago, and have the new Android Ice Cream Sandwich software, they are both just as impressive as each other. Whichever you choose, you will not regret your selection.
