subject: Keys To Residential Wind Turbines [print this page]

How do you get the most out of residential wind turbines? Just like anything else, you need to focus on the basics.

These are the 3 main points...

Wind map - You need to understand the wind patterns around your property in order to make the most of the investment you will be making. This is absolutely the key to making the most out of your wind energy investment. That is because you have to first accurately assess the amount of stored energy in the wind around you it contains. This is obviously very important in being able to assess what you can do in terms of creating power at home.

Forms and publications - The permitting process that most people have to go through when they install a wind turbine at their house can be very selective or it can be very broad, but in any case, it will dictate what you can and cannot do with renewable energy systems, like wind power, around your home. It is best to check out with those local sources and what the requirements are before you ever begin. That way you will never have to fear that you might have to take the wind device down after you've already installed it just to meet local permitting requirements.

Where the power will go - You have to have a good idea about where you are going to send the power once you have created it. Many people do this is an afterthought but you need to take the time to sort all this out before you begin so that once you get the wind turbine to your house it will just be a matter of installing it in just the right place and hooking it up to the appliance or load source that you have intended for it. Many people take the easy way out and just charge a set of batteries with their home wind turbines and use them as backup power in case they have a catastrophic power emergency on a grid level.

Residential wind turbines are the best way to make power at home. This is a terrific way to start taking part in the energy revolution that is coming our way as the price of fossil fuels rises beyond our reach. We don't really have a choice in this matter and that is because the fuels that we need now use to make our power are dwindling rapidly and we must pick something else to burn up. And we need to make a decision what that will be very quickly. A good stopgap measure though is to purchase renewable energy systems and start making your own power until that day comes when there will be an actual bridge fuel, like natural gas, that will transition us into the new world of energy production.
