subject: Multinational Erp Sap Business One Faq And Recommendations [print this page] It is a norm nowadays when mid-market and even small organizations outsource their production or pursue distribution on the overseas markets. There are apparent advantages of cost optimization. On the other hand you may discover unexpected overhead attributed to international expansion. This small publication written in the genre of questions and answers and we are basing them on our real cases in our consulting practice. Expected audience is managerial team and decision makers in finance and IT departments. If you are programmer or QA specialist then we have collection of papers in open press on web portals. But this one is probably too general to be consumed by software developers. Lets begin our FAQ:
Q. We are using Microsoft Dynamics GP in our head office in Atlanta, Georgia. Why dont we just install the same application for our subsidiary in Siberia? We know that there is technology to translate forms to Russian and it could be done in Modifier. We own Modifier module and ready to get some help from our office in Krasnoyarsk
A. First of all there is concept of ERP localization for specific country or region. Great Plains is not available in Russian but it is not a big deal to translate strings in Modifier. However in RF there are strict rules on how GL transactions should be recorded. And if you plan to do real operations in Siberia, Kazakhstan of Moscow region then you should pick the system which is in compliance with Russian legislation
Q. We have heard about SAP Business One being available on the international accounting software market. What does it mean and why other accounting packages are not available?
A. Business One is supported directly by SAP internationally. This means that software vendor is taking care about such issues as foreign country language support in user interface as well as compliance to local regulations (custom clearance, government reporting just to give you an idea and open the list of localization topics)
Q. We are planning to roll out SAP B1 in our locations worldwide. Are there restrictions and is it supported in every country and region?
A. First of all lets clarify that it is not available in Arab world. Second you should understand that localization might be basic and in some countries you need third party (ISV channel) add-ons. Good example is Brazil where SPED automation add-on is often required. Please see Q/A below
Q. We are opening subsidiary in Sao Paulo (more precisely in Campinas), Brazil. What should we expect and also could you tell us if SAP BO does the job or not?
A. There are several aspects. First of all it is SPED or Public Digital Bookkeeping System in English translation. SPED has its own chart of accounts required in electronic filing of AR, AP, Payroll and GL. The idea is to make corporate records public for IRS, lawyers, CPA and other professional communities. Second there are very complex tax rates and formulas based on your company size, industry code, destination from and to, item classification and other parameters
Q. Is SAP B1 available in Chinese?
A. It supports Unicode and by doing so Chinese hieroglyphs
Q. Are you available to come out onsite internationally?
A. It depends on the destination. For example we have offices in Brazil and Russian Federation. We are also ready to travel on expense report base. Modern web session and VOIP technologies compete with plane tickets cost and allow produce the results in comparable quality
