subject: Moo Review - Luxe And Standard Business Cards [print this page]

Approximately fifty million Moo business cards were created and shipped during the last year.

Just one year later, their expectation is to double that.

Is their achievement well deserved? Having now received both Moo's traditional and luxe cards, my impression is yes.

This is my thorough Moo business cards review including a look at a number of ways Moo.com is a cut above most of the well known printers.

Unique Offerings:

You're able to produce plain old business cards anywhere.

But when you'd like your cards to include as many as 50 assorted designs or pictures in ONE pack, turn to Moo.

Granted, I have an advertising and marketing background, but, I feel per is one of the greatest innovations in business cards over the last few years, due to the fact that it presents a great deal of unique marketing opportunities.

Consider:

Salons can highlight finger nail art or unique hairstyles

Retailers can send prospects home with a photo of the product they're considering

Clothing designers can highlight a lot of examples of their work

Professional photographers can showcase panoramic pictures on one card, wedding pictures on another, etc.

A baker can showcase numerous pictures and even recipes that prospects can "collect"

A dessert designer can promote both wedding cakes, kids birthday cakes, and everything in between

A fitness expert can present home fat loss / exercise tips

An interior designer can showcase a series of "before & afters" for various rooms

If you ask me there's absolutely nothing more frustrating than a business card that fails to create any impact or progress the sale. The Moo "multiple-design" approach practically makes people conceptualize their card as a marketing tool, rather than a contact card. And therefore, they're more apt to be saved, recalled... and shared with others.

Also, Moo's quality (that includes both print and paper quality) rates among the highest I've received.

Additional alternatives/add ons include things like mini-cards, round corners, a 100% recycled card stock, plus an uber-thick, 32-point paper stock (read the Moo Luxe section below), offering you several options for added impact.

Moo's Regular Business Cards:

I got myself a 50-pack of their standard business cards and uploaded a number of family pics so I could experience the business card customizer. It proved very simple to utilize and customize with my photographs and contact details.

The cards arrived on a quite respectable 15.5 point cardstock.

Moo describes the paper as "matte laminate" and if you have ever felt a silk business card that's pretty much what they feel like. It's silky and smooth and undoubtedly high quality. Their basic cards are also thicker in comparison to most other business cards that I've experienced. The colors (which is full color on both sides) looks vivid, and the print very clear.

NOTE: This paper stock is preferable for full-bleed photography.

Moo's Luxe Business Cards:

Moo's hottest business card offering is called Luxe.

I got a 50-pack of the"Freud" design template to give to my sister - as it is an ideal fit for her occupation as a social worker.

They are printed on super-thick 32-point paper, roughly double the thickness of their standard cards (and virtually 3 times the average card). It is a difference you'll notice right away, as will your recipients.

The cards are not silky like their standard ones. They feature a textured matte feel, like fine quality paper.

A unique stripe of color runs through the core of the cardstock - much like painted-edge business cards, yet it's only the center third, not the full side of the card. Therefore should you look at a stack of them from the side, you'll see alternating white, color, white. They have at least 4 colors to select from. An attractive touch in my opinion.

Luxe are not inexpensive, however the quality and thickness more than justify the extra expense.

Notice: Luxe is perfect for more subtle designs or patterns, instead of full-bleed images - which are present better on their regular card stock.

My Overall Review:

My overall purchasing, design, & quality experience was excellent. Moo's online business card builder lends itself to relatively easy layout, image upload and personalization, and the order progression is streamlined and imbued with style...

When you place your order you receive a confirmation email from "Little Moo" and as it's processed you receive a notification that the order has advanced to "Big Moo" for printing. Naturally, you'll get a shipment notification too, making the entire process headache-free. What's more, the cards are packed and presented (particularly in the case of Luxe) to impress.
