subject: Ferrari Ff: Technical Specifications [print this page]

The most significant innovation in the Ferrari FF is the use of all wheel drive which, for the first time ever in the company history, makes it possible to enjoy the unique driving experience to the full in all grip conditions, all year around and in all situations, for maximum driving pleasure even in heavy rain or snow.

The 4RM system conceived and patented by Ferrari maintains the tradition front-mid engine architecture with a rear transaxle connected to the engine by a single prop shaft. The Ferrari FF incredible sound emphasizes the sports character of the car. The engine note is clear and powerful in all driving conditions thanks to special induction sound ducts leading from the intake filters to the passenger compartment.

Dual Clutch F1 Gearbox

The dual clutch F1 gearbox accentuates both driving pleasure and comfort thanks to instantaneous shift times and integrated with E-diff to reduce overall weight. The Hydraulic actuator system for the clutches, gears and differential are also integrated in the gearbox, significantly reducing actuation times.

Suspension

The FF has an all-new suspension layout compared with the previous generation of 12 Cylinder models, with double "L" wishbones at the front and a "Multilink" configuration at the rear. This new suspension layout, together with the vehicle architecture, a more direct steering wheel ratio and specifically developed rear tires, give the FF the dynamic behavior of a genuine sports car. The results of all these implements are a reduced roll thanks to a 20% increase in vertical and lateral stiffness and an improved noise, vibration and harshness comfort, and more immediate response.

CCM3 Brake System

The new third generation carbon-ceramic brakes use an innovative material offering greater friction between the pad and disc than the previous generations, as well as more consistent braking, especially in the case of repeated use. The new pads are more resistant to stress than before and last 7-8 times longer than the previous generation components.

HELE VERSION

With the HELE (high Emotions low Emissions) package, the FF improves on the previous generation of V12 engines and is the best in its class in terms of consumptions, with fuel consumption and emission reduced by 25%. Consumption +15,4L/100 km .CO2 emissions =360g/km

The HELE package consists of the following elements: stop and start, optimized gear shift strategy, continuously variable radiator fans with brushless motor, externally controlled A/C compressor, continuously variable fuel pump.
