subject: Wind Turbine Prices Are Low Right Now And Here Is Why [print this page]

Wind turbine prices are low and are coming down further. This is great news for the consumer and great news for the United States in terms of supplying dispersed energy generation for people all over the country. We know that we need to move away from the model that has dominated the last hundred years, which is centralized production of electricity. We just did not know how to do it until recently and when the energy at home seems like the best way along with other renewable energy sources such as solar and geothermal.

These are the reasons why that is the case...

Economies of scale are causing prices to fall - The fact that so many of these devices are being sold now means that factories are able to predict sales figures and buy raw materials used in constructing wind turbines at lower prices. The competition that has heated up all over the globe for the sale of wind turbines produces additional pressure from the competition to lower prices on raw materials used in their construction.

Wind turbine prices are causing more people to buy them - As the prices get lower, more people are buying the home wind turbines. This means that we are in a dynamic cycle of prices getting lower and lower as we go along. There are many forces out there that are causing the prices that we pay to become dramatically lower over time but primarily, this is caused by consumer demand.

Wind turbine prices are supported by government rebates - The fact that our government here in the US and other governments around the world are perusing a strategy of dispersed generation, or energy made at homes rather than at power plants, means that it is much much easier to get a wind turbine at home and have someone else pay for it now than ever before. When the federal government installs rebates and tax incentives it is not uncommon for local communities that also want to encourage wind energy to do the same thing. The combination of the federal and the state and local tax credits are available could mean that your wind turbine could cost a 3rd of what it ordinarily would if you buy in the near term. We do not know how long these credits are going to be available though, so it is a good idea to take advantage of them if you are in any way shape or form thinking about purchasing a home wind turbine.

In summary, wind turbine prices have never been lower for a variety of reasons.
