subject: Everyone Needs A Sketchbook [print this page]

Every kid, given a chance, will draw pictures before writing words. All of us have our little thoughts and ideas which find expression in doodles, sketches, notes, drawings and so on. Parents must encourage their children to draw and make use of Sketchbooks to document their ideas and vision. Studies have shown that that sketching and doodling improve our comprehension and our creative thinking. It is a powerful tool to remember and relearn and has a profound effect on creative problem solving. Sketchbooks help unravel the innate creative abilities of your child and develop your child"s drawing skills based on his or her particular interests.

Sketchbooks can help your children harvest the power of ideas. It is a place to jot down their dreams, to-dos and ideas!! It is their vision board, their companion! These sketchbooks can also be personalized to reflect their individuality in an assertive way.

It is important to understand that Sketchbooks are not for artists alone. If you have ideas, big or small, ideas that keep you awake at night and also the ones that help you sleep well and then come up with more, you do need a sketchbook. Your feelings will become more "visible" and they will find an expression. You will be more "aware". Awareness generally leads to better knowledge and a better insight. Exploration becomes more vivid and the better you get at it, the better it gets!

Help transfer the children"s drawing skills to academic and everyday life. You will be amazed to see how children can make drawing look easy, even when it comes to the challenges of sketching what they see in real life. Let the children doodle away and fill up the pages of the sketchbook.

It feels good to be able to express thoughts and ideas. It is an exercise for the brain. And exercise is always good. So to keep your brain in good shape, you ought to doodle, sketch and scribble. You definitely need to jot your thoughts in the Sketchbook. For who knows, one of those (maybe plenty of those) might become the "next big thing"!

Add some daily dose of sketchbook vanilla to your schedule. It will never harm you. Encourage your children to doodle/sketch that history lesson that they can never seem to grasp or the chemistry that keeps escaping them. It"s time to catch on!
