subject: Determining If Moving Pods Are Right For You. [print this page]

There are so many storage solutions available these days. And if you're in the process of planning a move, you may have noticed all the different advertisements for moving services, and rental trucks. It can seem overwhelming where to start. But there is one option that is unique to the others, in the sense that it is more of a combination of the above. Moving pods.

Planning on using a rental truck can work. A group of tough, willing worker bees does too. The thing is time and flexibility. There's something to be said for doing things your way, and unfortunately the traditional route isn't always conducive to your plan.

Determining what you actually need is the first step. If you have a simple move and just need a little muscle, or something to transport your boxes, than a pod may not be necessary. But, if you want a longer term solution and the convenience of having your rental unit be portable, it might be an option to consider.

It's not a pleasant conversation when your sweetie gently informs you that your car collection has to go, and a room for her mother is taking its place! You want to know that at least when the time comes, there will be no excuses not to get your room back. And with a portable storage unit, you can rest assured.

Or maybe you want to finally start that addition to the house you've been saving up for, but aren't sure where to relocate all the furniture so you have someplace you can access. Unlike a storage unit, pods can be left right in your driveway if you choose. This makes for a convenient choice for those needing more flexibility.

Begging your co-workers to help move, volunteer their vehicles, or man power are no longer an issue. And no, renting a truck by the hour or day is no longer the only choice. Just contact your local pod company and make arrangements. It's as simple as that.

Getting back to the down side of why this may not be for you. The units don't pack themselves, and there is no help for packing and loading. Pick ups have to be called in, or scheduled. Which is not as convenient as being able to just start the engine, and taking off when you want to. With some planning this isn't too big of a deal though, so I wouldn't rule it out over this alone.

To make the right decision for you requires some basic planning. Determine what you are actually moving, and if you will need long term storage or not. It may turn out that moving pods don't really make sense for you if its an easy, or straight forward project. But, if it's something more complex, or long term, you'll be glad to have moving pods available.
