subject: Your 70s Disco Party Will Be Great With The Right Disco Party Invitations And Supplies [print this page]

The '70s dawned as an extension of the hippie movement from the late '60s. But around 1975 another phenomenon occurred. It was the birth of the disco age! And when people think of the 70s, they think disco balls, dance floors, strobe lights, big hair, and lots of makeup and semi-formal dance clothing. When in doubt, watch Saturday Night Fever. In fact, this DVD might be one of the items to put on your list of 70s party supplies, whether it is to play the DVD during the party, or give it away as a prize.

A disco ball, if you can find one, would be the absolutely perfect addition to the dcor of the 1970s party. Play plenty of '70s music, as everyone will want to dance. Someone at the party may remember some of the dance moves, and if so, he or she can be a kind of instructor to the rest of the guests. Or everyone can check out Youtube videos for tutorials on different dance moves. Anything from the Charleston to the Waltz, and everything in between can be found there.

Your 70s party invitations should be colorful and exciting. Be sure guests know that dancing will be a highlight of the party. Encourage the party guests to wear attire from the period of time where disco was king. For although this is not strictly a costume party, guests will want to dress according to theme. At that time, young women were very passionate about perfectly manicured nails, and expensive disco clothing. They didn't want a hair out of place. And the men were just as picky with their clothing choices and hair.

All invitations should include the date, time and place that the party will take place. Special attire should be noted, and indicate whether there will be a buffet of dinner items or just appetizers, so that guests will know what to expect.

Disco parties are lots of fun. The atmosphere will depend on the music being played, the dimming of the lights, and perhaps strobe lights will add to it, as well. It doesn't matter if you can't dance, as trying is half the fun. And after a few cocktails, they will probably try more. Have a video camera ready, so that a keepsake might be made of the event. It might just end up to be hilarious. But before you post it on Youtube, ask around if the guests would mind.
