But there are some position holders in different fields who can do much more important things for us that we dont even think. Similarly, I use to think in this way too that rich friends are always beneficial until I met a pharmacist who changed my views. Few years back my younger brother was ill and an epidemic was creating panic at that time which includes high fever and swelling of different parts of the body. Hospitals and clinics were full and I had nowhere to go to have just one prescription.
I went to a clinic at night just having an idea that the load of patients may be low at this hour but I was wrong there were 20 to 25 patients on the waiting list and everyone was taking not less than half an hour. I got panicked from this situation and took my brother from the waiting room and started walking outside the clinic. Mean while a pharmacist who was suggesting medicines to the patients in a room saw me in a worried face and called me instantly to find out the problem. I was hopeless and was thinking to exercise some home remedies to cure my brother but when he called me I was energized and told him the problem. Initially he recommended me to wait for the doctor but it was unacceptable to me as my brothers condition was not fine.
After an hour he consulted with the doctor personally for me and went out from the room and told me that doctor has given him permission to give a prescription. I was happy to listen this but at the same time confused because prescription was supposed to be given by the doctor. After taking his recommendations for the medicine I asked him about the situation he told me that he is the most senior pharmacist in the clinic but still I had a question about his knowledge and ability. Then I asked him about his work and its challenges he started explaining me procedures related to his daily routine. His experience was excessive but still a good knowledge base develops through a good qualification.
Therefore I asked him about his qualification and there he smiled and said that it is the part of my qualification which enabled me to give prescriptions. He was masters in pharmacy from a medical university in Dubai. The masters program is a blend of various medicine courses and increases the knowledge level greatly. He also added that prior strong knowledge base of chemistry is necessary to start a career in pharmacy. I heard for the first time that there is also a degree for nursing and many of his friends both males and females have done masters in nursing from his university. The masters degree holder pharmacists and nurses have privileges to recommend and prescribe medicines to the patients after years of experience in the field.
Medical universities are also offering pharmacy and nursing scholarship as well to promote outstanding students for these fields. Later on he became a good friend of me as well and now helps me in case of any emergency situation.
We knew that we would have to work extra hard in order to be able to study science A levels and then to go on to a good university.
