The change in season can only mean one thing, change in styles! It is always a joy to be amidst the buzzing excitement of fashionistas from all around the globe at fashion week, but it is also just as exciting to look over the looks once the time has finished. We loved the transition between the autumn / winter 2012 style, sported so gracefully on catwalks, with hair that was hot!

While side parted ponytails were the craze for some designers, there was an equal amount of flowing, centre-parted waved styles with a lot of dip dyed models floating around. Whether youre a lover of windswept or sleeked back up-dos, the various hair styles sported back stage at fashion week was sure to provide everyone with something to suit their style.

A key theme that we spotted from the autumn / winter catwalks was the use of hair pieces and wigs. Something we were extremely proud of! The designer proved that the catwalks needed that extra push to give their styles that touch of edge to push them all the way.

Rick Owens kept it sleek and elegant with very tightly slicked back buns, with a hair piece used to finish the look off. While the front of the hair was simple and the back very tightly gripped, Owens implemented hair pieces into their shows with the use of pieces that were designed in a woven, cage-like style knitted manner.

Stella McCartney also used hair pieces to finish off her bun-hair styles but in a slightly different way. To keep her look totally sleek and smooth, McCartney finished off her slicked back styles with simple, elegant round ballerina buns to compliment her streamlined sense of style.

Giles took a modern take on a more classic use of hair accessories by using ribbons. With dull shades of greens on vibrant hair colours, Giles created the perfect mix of trend and class by using the accessories. He aimed to go for the destroyed look, and conveyed this by burning the edges of the ribbons, looking stunning!

It would be impossible to comment on the beautiful use of wigs and hairpieces at the autumn / winter 2012 shows without honouring Alexander McQueen. The eccentric designer did us very proud with his use of blonde wigs, with rolled fringes and curled up backs. McQueen made sure that his clothes were the focus but his hair was the frame of every style, as it always should be!
