subject: Only Child Loneliness [print this page]

Singletons are on the rise in the whole world, especially in USA and the Western Europe. Although the only child will experience loneliness problems, but most of the educated families around the globe are now considering keeping family sizes minimal due various reasons of overpopulation, depletion of resources, and so forth. People now also believe in quality and not quantity.

Playmate for Singleton

Almost 20 millions families in the USA alone have singletons and they are having fun with their child without any problems involved. Sometimes, it seems difficult for the parent to provide their kid with playmates. The solution of the problem is not difficult if they take their kid to some park on alternative days or on weekends, where they let their child establishes a bond with other children of the society, even when they are not with parents and when they are not in the park.

Problems Regarding Sharing Expressions

If the parents live in flats where there is not much room for playing and where there are not many children of a singleton's age around, things become difficult as he or she won't be able to share his or her ideas and expressions with anyone. Playing with parents is good but playing with age-fellows pleases them more where they learn various and new things from one another. Without companions of the same age, only child may be feeling loneliness even when among his or her parents.

Bodily Fitness

If there are siblings at home, a child has better opportunity to play, fight, run after, or share ideas with another kid. This is the activity that parents can not provide to the kid. So, the children feel alone where they have to suffer the pangs of loneliness. A child eats food and it requires using energy that is produced by this food. If a sibling is there, he can easily discharge this energy in a useful activity, otherwise, he won't be able to utilize it.

What A Child Does When All Are Busy?

Only child's loneliness comes to the forefront when everyone at home is busy, where the child feels the urge to play with someone else. Parents are already busy and, at the most, single parents would be at home as the other has to do some job to run the family. If, for example, mother is at home and she is also busy in the kitchen, there is a great probability that the kid wants to play with someone who is someone like him, when considering, age, height, and intelligence level. If such a company is not provided to him, he feels lonely even among a lot of toys and other such things.

Age Gap with Parents

Parents are always good but there is an age gap between the kid and the parents. Parents can do everything for the kid but they cannot cross the gap that is between their ages. The presence of siblings might have been a better idea for the kid, but the parents have decided otherwise. So, the solitude is the only choice for the child.

Thus, only child's loneliness is the order of the day as more and more families are coming towards having a single child due to various factors. The singleton feels solitude due to absence of playmates and age gap with parents.
