subject: Single Parent Loneliness [print this page]

Single parent loneliness is such that may be of great consideration as he or she has to play both parts of father and mother. In this present age of economic recession, it has become difficult for the people to make both ends meet even after hard work, while playing two roles into one. So, it really becomes hard to bring up the child in a proper way.

Single Male Parent at Job

When a single parent is at work, he has to earn a living while handing the child over to some nursing home, child caring centre, or some governess to care for his kid. This sort of handing over the responsibility in others' hands doesn't mean that the parent is careless about the child, but actually, the parent may have been all the time thinking about the child when even at job. And he when he returns home, he has to do all sorts of chores that a mother would do for her kid. Thus, in doing so, he gets detached from the whole society where the only personality that is in his mind now is the kid and its upbringing. After all, he is a human being with all the desires of love and being loved, care, and being cared, satiate his sexual urge, and so forth. But he has a compulsion to take care of his child. He is with the kid with all his affection included, but at the same time he may be feeling lonely as there is no one who can hear his heart and who can take care of him.

Single Female Parent

If it is a single female parent, she has to face a lot of difficulties while bringing up the child. She has to earn her living, do all the house chores, and do such a job that would be of lesser responsibility so that she could take care of her baby whenever the need is there. She may leave her baby at home or hand it over to some nursery for the purpose of meeting finances through work. She has to take full care of her babe in all respect. In the process, she leaves all of her friends, relatives, and colleagues where she becomes fully devoted to the welfare of the kid. She experiences loneliness, which is the fortune of a single parent.

Recreations and Functions

Single parent loneliness is quite visible in the sense that he or she has to remain aloof from all types of social gatherings, functions, society meetings, and at most, his or her future prospects. All the desires and longings are locked in a chest for the time being where everything is left until the child grows to the secondary education age where after which, the responsibility of the parent becomes a bit lesser.

A child is born by the efforts of both male and female and it becomes the responsibility of both persons. If its upbringing responsibility is laid on a single parent, he or she has to suffer from loneliness as all of his or her attention would be devoted to the child.
