subject: Blog Creation Options [print this page]

Blogging began its rise to fame in the late '90's partly attributed to the availability of web publishing software that allowed people of any skill level to create a blog. Further advancements in web design and web publishing software continues to make blogging an easy and simple way for anyone to create and publish a blog. Today, blogging continues to be a popular method for people all across the globe to share information on a variety of subjects and topics with new blogs being published to the Internet daily.

When creating a blog there are typically two options available. The first as mentioned earlier is through the use of web publishing software. Web publishing software was created to make designing and publishing a blog fast and easy. What makes using web publishing software so easy is the use of blog templates. Blog templates are pre-made blogs that are equipped with the necessary features for basic blogging. Web publishing software will typically have quite a few different blog templates that users can choose from to start their own blog.

Although blog templates are already equipped with the basics needed for a person to start blogging, there are often a few additional features and customization options available that allow users to personalize their blog. Users can name their blog and use different fonts to present the blog name on the blog header. They can also customize it with features such as different colors which allow users to bring a bit of their own style and flavor to their newly created blog.

Web publishing software can be used by advance users but often limits them to the capabilities outlined by the software's programming. The software could incorporate advance features that require a higher technical skill to accomplish which may be sufficient enough for the type of blog that they want to create. If these advance features are not to their satisfaction, they can abandon using web publishing software and seek the other option.

In order to get full customization and personalization features, advance users will often opt to create their blog from scratch. Starting a blog from scratch can take more time to initially create a blog as opposed to using templates. Instead of using blog templates, advance users will write their own web based code to create their blog to look exactly how they want it to look and have the features they are looking for. The only limits that advanced users are limited to is, what they are capable of doing on their own and the extent of the knowledge they have about web publishing.

Blogs can be created by anyone with any skill level. Less experienced users benefit greatly from using web publishing software to help them create a blog but limits them to the capabilities of the programming. Advanced users can choose to use the web publishing tools and take advantage of advanced options or they can opt to create their blog completely from scratch.
