There are many reasons why people marryThere are many reasons why people marry. Including in this list would be for social, emotional, economical, spiritual and religious fulfillment. Marriage can also be done for legal purposes. Marriage, by definition, is essentially the socially recognized union of two individuals of the opposite sex. The union is governed by law and by the principles taught by the Bible. In the legal aspect, this union can be a form of marriage contract.

There are certain events being followed before the act of marriage. The following are the four usual events that commonly lead to the altar. First on the list would be courtship. The "dating period," as others would say. This is normally the step wherein the guy tries to woo the woman. Marriage can also be different depending on the culture of the couple. In some cultures, a marriage broker arranges the marriages. Usually the courtship stage leads into marriages. As the marriage gets longer, personal evolution and maturity usually takes place. Lastly, the fourth stage would be either divorce or the death of the partner.

There are different types of marriages. Each varies depending on one's culture. Monogamy in some cultures is allowed. This technically makes a person limit his spouse to only one. In other cultures, polygamy is allowed. This, on the other hand, allows a man to marry more than one wife, or more than one husband for females. Always keep in mind that regardless of whatever reasons a couple opted out, one should remember that marriage is still a binding agreement, both physically, legally, and emotionally.
