The history buff will be very interested to find the place Gomoh just a few miles away, since this was the place that marked the departure of Subash Chandra Bose from his homeland. Water loving tourists may even visit the icy cascades of the Bhatinda falls or the hot springs found in Chark-Khurd. The city itself has the popular Birsa Munda park which is a picnic hotspot.

Sure to attract historians and lovers of mythology, this town also has a temple dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. Tendrils of Buddhism are found throughout Jharkhand and Dhanbad is no exception. The village Gopalpur has a pillar said to date to the emperor Ashokas period and also contains a large stone image of him. Another pillar of Ashokas can also be found in the region of Chati- Gobindpur.
