subject: Online Business Game Demo Events [print this page]

Business Game rounds can be completed on-line at any time prior to the published deadlines. These events are offered free of charge on a first-come/first-served basis.

If you just want to see how Business Games work, you can enter as an individual. However, if you want to see the power of experiential learning in a virtual team environment you can enter a team. We recommend that teams include a cross-section of business skills. The Business Game covers finance, marketing, operations and administration.

Once you have chosen your demo event and start date, you will be e-mailed a name for your virtual business, together with a password, which you can change once logged in. This provides secure access to your own unique user area on the Business Game website where you will find all the information needed to make your policy decisions.

Whether youre an established business, a start-up, a large corporation or a small business, interactive learning simulations come in different shapes and sizes and provide accelerated learning opportunities to help your business grow.

Each player or team starts with an identical scenario, taking over an under-performing company. The objective is to turn it round while balancing the often-conflicting interests of shareholders, customers, employees and suppliers. In addition to conventional financial measurements of company performance, the Business Game incorporates Consumer Watchdog Ratings which address key factors such as customer service, quality, value for money, staff morale, credit rating and market image. As the game proceeds, some teams will perform better in different areas. The opportunities for improvement which emerge often reflect existing or potential challenges in real-life business.

Once the deadline has been reached, decisions are processed and the results published, normally within fifteen minutes. Some of the results apply to all of the teams taking part, others are just for your team. As in real life, you will not know your competitors policy decisions but you will know their market share, turnover, profits and key ratings. You can then adjust your policy decisions for the second round.

Business Games events can be configured to meet most everyday requirements, for any number of participants, for different levels of knowledge and experience, to meet most budgets and to fit with most time and availability constraints. Events can be run on-site or on-line, or a combination of both.

Taking part in a demonstration event involves no obligation whatsoever. Results will be accessible on the website for at least a month after each event.
