subject: Wind Energy Power: Real Solution For Homeowners Or Just A Panacea? [print this page]

We are seeing wind energy power being touted all over American society these days as a solution for our energy woes. But, is it a real solution or just a panacea? In other words, is it a way to save energy in a real way or is it just a way to be fashionable?

These are the reasons I think wind energy power is a real benefit to us personally and to society and one that will be felt for generations to come...

Wind energy power production takes the place of power plant energy production - This deployment of wind turbines to homes reduces the smoke and noxious chemicals that power plants put out. This is a tangible benefit to society not only in terms of pollution that is clogging the air in our big cities around the globe, but also it has a possible and potentially positive impact on climate change.

Wind energy power will reduce your power bill at home - When you purchase a wind turbine system for your house, you are decreasing the amount of power you will have to buy from your power company. While the power you buy from your utility is certainly cheaper than what you would make initially with your wind turbine, this will not always be the case. Once your device is "paid for", meaning the money you save having supplanted your utility-supplied power with free energy made by the wind turbine, all of your electricity from then on will be basically free to you.

Home wind power will give you an increasing feeling of independence - We all have a nagging feeling of being beholden to foreign powers when we buy their fuel stocks to make our electricity and run our cars. We have become dependent on them in the same way a junky feels dependent on his pusher. We all need the foreigners and their fuel, but they seem to feel nothing but antipathy toward us. When you buy your own renewable energy device, you are putting a stake in the ground and saying that, at least for your part, you are going to start taking back some of the control over your energy future.

Summarizing - there is a lot to feel good about when you buy a wind energy power system for your home. Not only does it feel good to reduce your utility bills in the short term, but also, it feels good when you realize you are doing your part to help the broader society.
