subject: Google Latest Seo Strategy [print this page] A few weeks ago Google apparently started changing the algorithms of how they will list websites.
These changes are going to dramatically change the positioning of many websites on the search engines, sending some sites plunging to their deaths and other soaring to the tops of the Google charts.
Google's aim is to remove a lot of the sites that either have duplicate content or content of low value, and reward sites that have high quality content, but it will also base their search engine results on websites that are socially shared.
Filling websites, description tags and meta-tags with keyword-rich words and phrases will no longer be of any advantage, and forget backlinks to other websites unless those websites are also developed on Google's new strategy.
So what is Google's new strategy?
For a while now, since Google launched Panda, their last algorithm strategy, they have been working on eliminating duplicate content from their search engine by penalizing websites that have content found on other websites, or content that has poor content value.
This can include webpages with the same titles and descriptions on every page, websites with the same keyword used multiple times throughout the website which smalls the site, and removal of many single page sites used purely for marketing lists that carry no real value to anyone searching Google.
Google's latest strategy follows on from this by not only rewarding you for having a website that has original useful content but also has social acceptance and referrals in the form of 'Likes' from Facebook, genuine reviews on your pages or articles, and of course, has Google+ followers liking your page.
This proves to Google that your content is newsworthy to others and therefore has some value.
When you think about it, this makes more sense than a bunch of keywords, if you are trying to be noticed online. Just like in real life, it's not what you know, it's who you know and who recommends you, not how many times you can say the same word in a sentence!
Google is starting to imitate how we connect in real life, to provide better results.
How to gain the best results from the new search engine strategy?
The first thing you have to do to ensure your website will reap the benefits and remain or get to the top of the search engines with the new strategy is:
Re-evaluate your current content of your website.
Check and possibly re-write your text content throughout your entire website to ensure you have a nice balance of a few strong keywords still, but ensure the content has real value and information to others that they would like, and more importantly, they would want to share with others. This is the content that will give you the real rewards.
This includes ensuring your images are named correctly to reflect what they are as well.
Obviously an images of a red apple, called image10.jpg has no value. Call it juicy-red-apple.jpg and it gives it value.
Connect more socially
Connectivity is the key to the new strategy, and the best way to connect online is with social networks. Ensure your business is placed on all the major social network sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+ and Youtube. The advantages of having content on all these networks means you get a genuine link back to your website from respected networks, and providing your content is rich on these social networks means you will start gaining Likes, Shares and referrals, which increase your social acceptance level online.
Engage High-End article based websites as well, such as PRWeb to promote your articles on. Sites like this push your articles through a wide range of related online outlets.
Gain more followers
Attract more followers by being social back to others. Comment on other websites, Facebook business pages, Google+ pages and Youtube channels and this encourages them to follow you as well. By gaining followers you gain respect from them, and this generates more of their followers to follow you as well, driving more traffic to your website.
This is what Google is looking for.
Encourage others to engage with you by adding Comment Forms to all your article pages, and social media buttons to the main body of your website so people can share your site with their friends if they like it. Ideally for the Comment Form, use a Social plugin such as the Facebook Comment Form as this gives the option for their comments to be shown on their Facebook account as well.
Most importantly, continue to add articles to your website and social media outlets and engage and connect with your social groups and followers. this proves to Google that you have genuine people out there that gain benefit from your content. This is way more important that a bunch of over-used keywords on a dormant website.
