subject: The Seat Exeo, An Audi By Another Name [print this page]

SEAT is essentially the Spanish arm of Volkswagen after the German car giant took over the Spanish car manufacturer in 1990. SEAT has continued to produce cars under its own badge but many of the current vehicles in the SEAT range are built on the same platform as similar cars from the Volkswagen range. The most noticeable difference is price and unless youre picky about what make you buy it might be worth checking out SEAT for excellent cars at a lower price.

There are several excellent cars in the SEAT range and the two most well known are the SEAT Alhambra and the SEAT Ibiza. The latter continues to get praise for being an excellent small car while the Alhambra is a great choice for families needing a larger vehicle.

A less well known alternative from the SEAT range is perhaps the SEAT Exeo, a large family car available both as a saloon and as a sports tourer/estate. The Exeo is an executive vehicle based on the previous model Audi A4 which was built on a Volkswagen platform. Audi is yet another company under the Volkswagen banner. Being based on an Audi means youre getting a high-quality car for your money although it might seem a bit old in styling considering its based on a car which is no longer produced. But the car handles well and comes well equipped and if you get the diesel version you also get a relatively frugal car averaging around 50 mpg and with lower CO2 emissions than many of its rivals.

Prices start around 19,500 which means it should be a great contender in this class of vehicles and rival the likes of the Ford Mondeo and the Volkswagen Passat, two of its main rivals, although resale value might not be as good as with the more popular choices. If youre interested in test driving a SEAT Exeo, Lincoln is one place youll find a dealership able to help.
