subject: Rotomoulding Machine [print this page] Now a days, plastic products and hollow items are highly demanded in worldwide market. To produce these type of products, moulding process is being used in various industries. moulding is one of the popular methods, used in manufacturing of PET bottles, PVC pipes, tanks, cylinders and several more hollow parts. This process was started in early 18th century and from that period to recent time, it has been using in a consistent manner. Different types of moulding processes have been used in many industries and some of the industrial moulding processes are compression moulding, extrusion moulding, injection moulding, blow moulding, transfer moulding, rotomoulding and many more.
Rotomoulding is a moulding process for designing and making many kinds of hollow items. By using this process in plastic industry, engineers can create one piece, seamless and stress free plastic products with superior surface finish and those plastics are available in any size, in every possible shape and even exotic nature.
Rotomoulding machine is a part of this process, which is demanded for various industrial applications. These machines are also available in various models and are made with customization facility to suit the varied requirements of the clients. There are several types of rotomoulding machine available in the market and some of them are described below:
Rock & Roll rotomoulding Machine: It is basically a single arm machine that is used by rotating the mould by 360 degrees in one direction and tipping it horizontally around 45 degrees above or below in the other direction. Such types of machines have smaller heating chambers so that those can save the heating costs accurately.
The Shuttle or Swing Arm rotomoulding Machine: It is known as a single arm turret machine. When, it uses in production process of mold, it moves back the heating and cooling chambers. This type of rotomoulding machine can move the mold in a linear direction into the heating and cooling chamber successfully.
The Vertical or Up & Over rotomoulding Machine: It is varied in small size to medium as compared to other rotomoulding machines. It is energy sufficient machine as it has compact heating and cooling chambers.
Vertical rotational machine
Generally, Vertical rotational molding machines have a compact heating and cooling chamber that makes these machinery energy efficient. Although these machines possess similar capability, as like those of horizontal carousel multi-arm machines, they come up with a lesser space.
Swing arm machine
This machine moves the mould back and forth between the heating and cooling chambers. Being a single arm machine, it is a cost effective option generally used by schools or in prototyping.
Carousel machine
It is one of the most commonly used machines in the market. It comes in a wide range of sizes and can have up to 6 arms. Generally, machine is available in two different models, fixed and independent. A fixed carousel machine includes 3 fixed arms that move together. Here, one arm will be situated in the heating chamber, wherein the other one is in the cooling chamber and the other in the loading/reloading area.
