When this training was heard around the dance population, Pilates was eagerly accepted to help build long, lean muscles without adding too much bulk. Gradually, it was introduced to the mainstream of fitness and can now be found as a basic means of training and exercise. It also helps not only the body, but the mentality of the mind. You will notice many athletes and celebrities use this technique to get fit.

Every year more and more people abandon whatever current exercise fad is in fashion to enroll in Pilates, a technique that sculpts a body back to health without wear and tear on ankles, hips, knees or elbows. One of the primary benefits of Pilates, however, is how it affects everything else one does.By emphasizing deliberation and control in every exercise, both the concentric (shortening) and eccentric (lengthening) contractions of the muscles are worked, creating the long, lean musculature of a dancer, rather than the shorter, bulkier muscles of a weight-lifter.
