subject: Hidden Security Cameras And Their Importance In Home Security [print this page]

Security cameras are one of the most widely used forms of commercial security, being found in all institutions, regardless of size. They are also used to protect homes from burglars and intruders, and there are numerous different types and sizes of cameras. They start with the basic cameras that everybody knows of, and end up with hidden surveillance cameras that take the form of a watch or a pen. A spy pen pinhole camera is extremely hard to detect at a glance, as it looks just like any ordinary pen, yet the technology used is amazing.

Even though the camera is tiny, as it needs to fit into the body of the pen, the images it captures are usually of high quality. This does depend on the materials and camera used though, as cheap spy pens usually use very low quality cameras that are unable to capture even acceptable quality images. However, as the price of the pen increases so does its quality and an expensive spy pen equipped with a high quality camera can capture images and film just like any regular camera, perhaps even better.

Some are also equipped with technology that allows them to capture video and images in low light situations, and they do so without turning on any lights or making any noise that can alert others to what is happening.

Such devices do not usually have a role in security, although they can be left in rooms throughout the house and set to activate when they sense motion, but most of the time they are used to capture images and videos in locations where such actions are forbidden.

Those using such cameras usually do not want to get caught, and that is why more and more manufacturers have started to make their spy pens even harder to detect, even during a close up examination. The price of such advanced pens is however quite high, and they are not accessible to everyone.

Those who are not going to use the pens in dangerous places, and who simply want to feel like James Bond whilst walking through a shopping centre or other safe location, will be more than pleased with the spy pens being offered for sale in professional stores.

Their price is not as high as some may expect, and the quality they provide is more than decent. Most of them have 4 GB of space and a battery that gives them around 1.5 hours of filming time, which is more than enough for most tasks. There are other types of spy cameras available in such stores, such as watch cameras, and these are extremely effective as well.

There are many who consider them to be nothing more than expensive toys, but when used in the right situations spy cameras become invaluable. There are certain lines of work which greatly benefit from using them. Journalists for example regularly use hidden cameras to film in locations where they are not allowed to, or to film actions without alerting anyone to the fact that they are being recorded.

There are other professions in which they are used, although the hidden cameras used are usually of much higher quality and are much more concealed than the ones you can purchase in stores. Regardless of where and how it is used, a pinhole camera spy pen is certainly handy to have around. Remember that it has plenty of uses at home as well, as it can be used to protect certain areas of the house. It can be set to activate when it senses motion, and no intruder would think twice about looking at the pen innocently lying on a desk or table.

Even large institutions sometime use such cameras besides their regular security cameras, because there is the risk of the security cameras being turned off or being avoided by intruders, whilst a small spy pen will not draw any attention and it may just provide the images the police needs to capture the intruders. If you want to purchase such a pen you should remember that it can only capture video for up to 1.5 hours, so do not be surprised if it runs out of batteries whilst you are still trying to film. It is something you need to keep in mind and be prepared for.
