subject: How To Add Video On A Drupal Page? [print this page]

Drupal is one of the most popular and leading CMS (content management system) available online. This software package is loaded with myriad of modules and templates that allow web developers to create, organize, customize and manage the content and the overall appearance of the website.

One of the most striking features of Drupal is that it is an open source web developing platform and hence anyone can use it for free. Drupal is written in PHP programming language and it helps in creating dynamic websites. Drupal platform is compatible with Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and other operating systems.

One of the major reasons why Drupal is widely used for developing websites it is SEO friendly features. If you have a Drupal website you would want to have a video page on your website to getting better rankings on search engines.

The following tips will help you add videos your Drupal page:

1.Open a new word file or a notepad file, then go to the video sharing website such as Revver, Metacafe or YouTube and find the video that you wish to upload on your Drupal website. When you find the video, right click on the video and click on view source option. Copy and paste the code on the textpad. If you wish to upload your own video (that you have created), upload the video on the video sharing website first and then copy the embed code of the video.

2.Log into the Drupal website and navigate your way to the site admin by entering your user id and password. Browse through the sections and tools in the admin and click on create a new content page. Provide a suitable title to the new page. Usually, most people name the page as Videos. You can also provide a short description about the video (what it is all about) in the body section box in the content editor.

3.Copy the video code form the textpad and paste the same in the body section of the content editor just below the description of the video. Make sure you copy the complete HTML codes. This is because even a single missing code may lead to error.

4.Next, below the content editor, you would find a link known as Input format. Click on the link, the section would expand you would see edition options. In the edition options you would find, the Filtered HTML tab is enabled by default. Disable the Filtered HTML box and instead enable the Full HTML box. This is an important step in uploading a video page on Drupal website because if you keep the Filtered HTML box clicked, only a few set of HTML codes will appear in the content section and Drupal would automatically filter out the codes that are not part of the limited set. This may result in error and you may not be able to view the video.

5.Once you enable the Full HTML box, next click on the submit button. The video you have embedded should appear on your Drupal site when you preview the page. The same process is applicable for adding videos to your Drupal blog or forum pages too.
