subject: Leaky Gut Syndrome May Be A Cause Of Ibs [print this page]

Human parasites are present in the bodies of most people without them even knowing it. There are different types of human parasites that cause common symptoms like diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, bloating, constipation, abdominal pain, Irritable bowel syndrome, gas, rashes and muscle aches. Contracting parasitic infections can be controlled to an extent by observing basic hygiene and cleanliness. Irritable bowel syndrome or ibs, one of the causes of human parasites, is also known to be caused by Leaky gut syndrome or increased intestinal permeability.

Most physicians refuse to recognize Leaky gut syndrome, but there is evidence proving that it is a health condition that affects the lining of the intestines. Increased intestinal permeability occurs due to inflammation of the intestinal lining. Inflammation of the intestinal lining allows access of unwanted substances like bacteria, viruses and small protein molecules into the bloodstream. When these unwanted substances find their way into the bloodstream prematurely, they trigger an immune reaction and as a result, the gastrointestinal tract is inflamed while causing symptoms of ibs treatment.

Therefore, it is highly important that your intestines are healthy so that toxins and overabundant nutrients are kept out of the blood stream. There are certain ways that you can test for Leaky gut syndrome.

Firstly, it is important to identify the symptoms of Leaky gut syndrome. Some of the most common symptoms include bloating, gas, diarrhea, headaches, Irritable bowel syndrome, fatigue, memory loss, cramps, malnutrition, diarrhea, constipation and poor health.

Undergo an intestinal permeability test that involves the process of ingesting a specific amount of lactulose and mannitol solution after which you will be required to test your urine for high levels of lactulose and mannitol, both of which are water-soluble sugar molecules. This test will be performed over a period of six hours.

Finally, you may study your results. While mannitol is easily absorbed, lactulose contains larger molecules and most times, can only be partially absorbed by the intestines. If you observe that the levels of both sugars in the urine that has been collected are high, then there is a strong possibility that you could be suffering from increased intestinal permeability. However, if your digestive system is healthy, the results will show higher levels of lactulose and lower levels of mannitol.
