subject: Lady Gaga's Hair Dress, Desperate Plea for Attention? [print this page]

True to her sensationalist form, Lady Gaga has officially broken each and every fashion rule by wearing something that can be counted as neither fashion nor clothing.

And no, it's not the meat dress. At a surprise performance at The Oak Room in NYC on Thursday, Gaga showed up wearing something possibly even more appalling than fresh cow: hair. Not fur, hair. The dress, which is possibly more like a leotard than an actual piece of clothing, looks as if it is made of Rapunzel's long golden locks.

Under the assumption that Gaga would not go as far as wearing real hair, the outfit is ostensibly made of long strawberry blonde hair extensions, draped over the shoulders and back. A side view reveals that it is conspicuously not even attached on the sides.

During the meat dress fiasco of just a couple of weeks ago, Gaga pointed to a political message of free speech as her reason for wearing an animal's flesh, but what was Gaga's political message this time?

Being incendiary is now, apparently, the name of the game.

While the hair dress has been seen before (a la "Project Runway" finalist Chris March), no one has actually taken it on with this much gusto (March was sent home from "Runway" primarily because the weirdness of it).

Aside from the general unseemliness of such a dress, the combination of hair with Gaga's obsession with pantslessness makes her most recent outfit a disaster. If she's not opposed to wearing meat and hair, what's next?
