subject: Make A Memory With Games At A Chanukah Party [print this page]

Chanukah is a time for families to gather and celebrate the rededication of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem. Chanukah is filled with tradition and is a time when adults and children alike will make many memories. Chanukah Party Supplies help make the occasion even more special by giving the occasion more personality. You can also make your Chanukah celebration memorable by playing fun Chanukah party games.

Hide The Chocolate Gelt is a traditional and fun Chanukah game. Chocolate, coin shaped candy, wrapped in foil called gelts are hidden in a room or area before the guests arrive. Then tell the kids that you've hidden the chocolate gelt around the room and that they have to look for it. They'll have a lot of fun seeking out their chocolate treats.

Keep the fun going with a lively game of "Walnut Roll". Draw a line a few feet away from a wall, or use a piece of masking tape for the line. Put a walnut against the wall. Each player takes a turn rolling a walnut in an attempt to hit the one that's against the wall. Once someone hits the nut, they can collect all the nuts that have been rolled. Then, place another nut against the wall for the kids to start over.

Another traditional Chanukah game is Dreidel. To play Dreidel, you need a dreidel and game pieces, like pennies or nuts. Each face of the dreidel has a word in Hebrew, nun, gimmel, hey, and shin. These words spell out "A great miracle occurred there." In Israel, the words on the dreidels are Nes, gadol, haya, and peh, which means "A great miracle occurred here." Dreidel begins with all players in a circle and placing one game piece (pennies, gelts or other small prizes) in the center as the pot. During the course of the game, if the pot becomes empty or only has one piece left, all of the players should add one piece. The player spinning the dreidel either takes the whole pot, half the pot, none of the pot, or adds to the pot, depending on where the dreidel lands. Different versions of the driedel game exist.

Chanukah games and Chanukah Party Supplies make the celebration even more fun and special for young and old alike. Just play these Chanukah games and you'll see how very fun they make your celebration.
