Blood glucose in the blood is tested by the Onetouch mini device. Diabetics use this device most of the time to regulate the amount of sugar in their blood. Thus the need to constantly test the blood sugar in order to check the intake of nutrients that have sugar. With the blood sugar testing, the diabetic can know when to reduce the amount of sugar intake.

How the device works

The glucose in the blood is assimilated by the chemicals in the one touch test strips. Electricity current that is in the meter of the device tests the glucose in the blood. So after the blood has been tested, the end result is stored in the meter and saved for future reference. Good thing about the results being stored is the fact that initial results can be compared to the ones that follow and thus the diabetic will be able to learn how to maintain the amount of sugar in the blood in to a manageable level.

Testing strips for determining the level of the blood.

Must-know facts about the onetouch mini

Should not be used on babies who have just been born.

One diabetic one strip. Not two diabetic two strips. Or else the results will be deceiving because of the two sets of blood on the test strip.

Aspect of temperature is very important. Temperature of meter and testing strips should not vary.

If the temperature is below 43F or above 110F then the testing should not be done. And if the testing has to be done at a particular time, then at least do it at room temperature.

The meter does not have to be removed from the case during the testing.

Skin area that is to be pricked for the testing should be washed first. Soap and water being the most recommended.

Lancet and the lancing should not be used by two people. This type of sharing may end up spreading illnesses.

And once a lancing or a lancet is used, it should be disposed off and a new one used the next time.

Part of the skin being tested will depend on the time the testing is being done.
