Most people, when they sit down for work, won't start with the important tasks immediately. They may fumble around, check their mails, decide on which task to begin first etc. They don't immediately dive into the most profitable work. Learning to do so is one of the biggest secrets of getting more work done in little time.
So how can you develop this habit? How can you get into your most productive zone right away as soon as you sit for work? Here are some strategies to help you out:
2 Steps to Increase Productivity
1. Make a to-do list in the evening: Each day, before you wind up your work, be sure to make a list of important tasks which must be done the next day. This list should include only those tasks which cannot be postponed another day. So only the most urgent, important and high-value tasks qualify for this list.
Now when you begin your work the next day, you will have a ready made list of the most important tasks. You don't have to waste any time in planning and deciding on which tasks to start first.
You can have another to-do list with other tasks which are not so important. You can focus on this list after completing your first to-do list.
2. Stop wasting time at the start - All of us waste some amount of time. But it is important that you do not waste time at the beginning. Whenever you sit down to work, the first hour is the most important because you are fresh and likely to be most productive and energetic at this time. So don't distract yourself in unproductive things like checking mails, browsing websites, chatting with friends etc.
Force yourself to work with full concentration during the first hour. As a reward, you can allow yourself to get distracted with other things for some time after you complete reasonable amount of work in the first hour.
Just follow these 2 steps to get maximum use of your time, and become better time manager.
