Last year, Amazons Kindle Fire has rocked the tablet pc market with cheap price of $199 and it was really a success. Now this year, Google would release Nexus tablet with impressing pricing to march into the market. Google Chairman Eric Schmidt did tell an Italian newspaper late last year that the company planned to offer a tablet that would be competitive with the iPad.
According to some rumors, Google has contracted with AUSU to produce a co-branded Nexus tablet this year. And the tablet would come at a target price of $149-$199. This tablet would be a lower-end, dual-core processor running inside of the upcoming tablet. At first, it is said that the tablet would be built with NVIDIAs Tegra 3 quad-core processor. But at such a low price, it is not likely.
Google has said little about its tablet plans so most of the reports are based on speculation and second hand sources. Now the latest rumors said that the nexus tablet would have 7 inch screen with ecosystem. And it would be unveiled soon enough in May.
Besides, Nexus is the name for Googles mobile devices, now Google is also naming tablet pc with it. Maybe it means Nexus tablet would be a serial. The first tablet is expected to make its first appearance at the next CTIA event in New Orleans from May 8th - 10th 2012. And now I wonder if tablet pc accessories are ready aside with the nexus tablet.
Although Amazon Kindle has been a real success last year. Now with the prices of tablets keep dropping, nexus tablet with $199 may not sound so appealing like last year. Especially with high end tablet like the new ipad and galaxy tab with great specifications, it is hard to make people feel wanting for a low end tablet. For example, would you rather buy a modern wonderful new smartphone or a new cell phone with low specifications? I think Google should put more attention on the design and specifications of nexus tablet other than the pricing.
