subject: Should Internet Marketing Training Be Free? [print this page] Do you feel you should pay for Internet marketing training on how tomake money online?I understand that there are many people who do not have money and are looking for somebody to help them for free. I get hundreds of emails every week from people just like this.
Do you think this is fair? Should you have to pay for Internet marketing training?
I recently saw a post in a discussion forum where the question was based on why Internet marketing gurus charge for information. The Internet marketer who posted this question wondered why if an Internet marketing guru wanted to help people make money online they didn't do it for free!
Some of the responses provided good examples of why it is fair to charge for Internet marketing training.
A therapist wants to help people with their problems. Should they do it for free?
A car manufacturer wants people to drive. Should they give away free cars? And so on...
Internet marketers who treat their business like a business are the ones who will make money. Internet marketing gurus understand that their time is just as valuable as a lawyer or a doctor. If you ever had a free doctor appointment?
Another important point is free training is not taken as serious as something you pay for. People tend to not value something they get for free.
If you have an investment in it you feel as though you need to recoup that investment in some way. This is especially true if the dollar value increases.
If you buy a report or ebook for $37 you may follow through with the advice provided. If you pay for Internet marketing coaching program for $5,000 chances are you are very serious about making money online.
Granted many people cannot afford a $5,000 coaching program. However the point is still valid. The more you spend the more effort you will put into getting it back.
I've never paid for a $5,000 coaching program myself. However, when I first started out with Internet marketing I purchased education products to help me build my Internet business faster.
I didn't mind paying Cory Rudl $200 for his Internet Marketing Secrets hard back books. I purchased many training programs that cost several hundred dollars and one that even cost over $1000.
I view this as going to Internet marketing college. Spend $50,000 on a four-year education for my sons makes me understand how really inexpensive it is to get training on Internet marketing.
The bottom line is there is plenty of free training available online. If you want inside information, or to have direct access to somebody who has specialized knowledge on Internet marketing, it's only fair to pay for the services they provide.
